The idea of building a hospital which will cater to the increasing population of Batangas City and its surrounding municipalities and barangays paved the way to the construction of the first cooperative hospital in the Philippines. A small group of practicing doctors convened and conceptualized the idea of building a hospital that will offer affordable, accessible and modern facilities. Its main goal is to make a leader in excellence in the field of medical service. Thus, the Batangas Health Care Hospital, Jesus of Nazareth, owned by doctors and private entrepreneurs came into being.
The flagship project of the Batangas Health Care Multipurpose Cooperative, registered under the Cooperative Development Authority on March 30, 2000, is a four story, 106-bed capacity medical center with complete health facilities. It would approximate the services rendered in Metro Manila hospital. It is located on a 4,663 square meter private lot in Barangay Gulod Itaas, Batangas City. The hospital has facilities which include CT Scan, ultrasound, x-ray, dialysis, intensive care unit apparatus, stress test, 2DEcho and ECG machines. In January 2006, a newly acquired Synchron CX4 fully automated chemistry analyzer, running more than two hundred (200) tests per hour was acquired. In the same year, the Bacteriology section of the Laboratory Department was also installed.
The single bed rooms classified as Suite and Private, are spacious, complete with split-type air-conditioning units, television sets with cable TV, refrigerators, sofa bed and telephone units. The wards are also sizeable, limiting to four patients per ward. It also boasts of six operating theatres, recovery room, intensive care units, delivery and labor rooms. At the ground floor the emergency room, laboratory and x-ray units are on the north wing, while the out-patient, consultations rooms, pharmacy and the Heart Station are located on the south wing of the hospital. Two elevators that fit a stretcher can be found at the same floor. At the basement. the chapel, billing and PHIC section, Artificial Kidney Unit, Eye Center and the Developmental and Rehabilitation center can be found.
A separate building on the right side of the building is the canteen catering the dietary needs of the hospital patients. A separate function room is located at the 2nd floor of the building while the dining area is at the ground floor.
